soooo some of you probably already know what EXACTLY happened last night... for those who don't, here's the whole story in full detail.
we (ally, mom, me) decided we would make a quick trip to woodburn to do some after christmas shopping... never would we have known what was about to happen next.
we shopped for about and hour and a half and got all the stuff we needed.
then we started our journey home...
it took us about 4 or more hours just to get from woodburn to the tualatin area (which normally only takes about 20 minutes). literallly, we went about .1 miles in, hmmm, let's say, 1/2 and hour????
this was RIDICULOUS. it was bumper to bumper and we weren't making any progress. on top of that, we were STARVED since we hadn't eaten lunch. we made the decision of taking an exit and stopping at a restaurant for a little something to eat to boost up our energy level.
but little did we know that the side roads were so much more snowy and icy than the freeway.
we took the exit and found out that we had made a BAD BAD decision. the roads were all hilly and snowy from there. cars were pulled over on the side roads because they couldn't get up the steep hills. and for sure we couldn't make it in our tiny miny cooper! so we parked our car next to the line of cars facing the same situation.
we walked and luckily (thank goodness!) there was a hotel right next to where we were and we stayed there for the night.
we were still hungry of course, so we walked about 1/2 a mile to get to the nearest mcdonalds. i was wearing my converse (bad decision elena!) and boy did THAT go well! at least ally and mommy were wearing boots... but anyway, it was ok. i made it through.
when we got to the hotel, i zoned out for about 5 hrs. after that, it wasn't the best sleep i ever had. but really, im just thankful that we found a place to stay, we didn't get into any accidents, and we didn't get stuck.
--------------------------------------------------
just about 1/2 and hour ago we got home!!!
i am so happy that we are safe and alive...
i think we take a lot of things granted in our lives. like our homes. our cars. how we can get everywhere so conveniently. God.
i think that God put us in this situation so we can really truly be thankful for what we have. and now i realize that~
this will surely go down into the record book for the most suprising adventure of a lifetime!
wow what an experience!! Your guardian angel was sure watching over you guys :)
