random drabbles from a blogger's soul: IIII

the drabbles have finally made their way back to the blogging world! *pinches and/or slaps face in disbelief*

and you know me, being the passionate writer that i am, asked The dad for a topic to write on (which will remain anonymous for now) while in some boring thursday night traffic.  and boy did i learn the hard way that writing in the dark is difficult! after some tweaking, i came to a semi-conclusion.  if there is still any grammatical errors, i apologize.  what can you do, elena can be lazy sometimes.

and lastly, let the drabbles commence!

---------------

Gunshots are heard from a distance as Private Bell pummels himself through the rolling hills of sand.  Suddenly, smoke is enclosing and twirling itself around him, a ribbon of grey plumes consuming his body as a whole.  This sudden change of scenery knocks him off guard as he trips on something solid clashing against his heel.  He tumbles to the sand and thrusts his hands in front of his face before he hits earth a millisecond later.  A throbbing pain shoots up his foot and he bites back tears.  Suck it up Bell, if you wanna become a General, you gotta become more fortified than this. Desperately trying to erase the growing pain from his mind completely, he wipes his tactile goggles free of condensation. In his peripheral vision, he becomes aware of a limp body- possibly one out of his own unit- with red liquid seeping through his desert sand colored uniform.  He zooms in on the figure, eyes instantly welling up into gigantic pools of tears.  Gingerly, he touches the shoulder of Perry, his unit Specialist, the presence of a dead body sending shivers through his spine.

Another gunshot sounds, and before he can register what's happened, he's laying face first on the ground, grainy spectacles of sand creeping its way up his nostrils.  As he falls deeper and deeper into the swirling black darkness, the only one thought on his mind was how he is only one out of many who gave up their life for the American people.
