The challenge

I have a challenge for you. Here is a riddle and try to answer it.

You have a jug of milk, and you need to measure out just one cup. How do you do this if you only have a three-cup measuring container and a five-cup container?

I will put a riddle of the week every monday, and put the answer on every wednesday.

NO CHEATING!!!!!!!!!!!

  1. jug -> 5 cup -> 3 cup (set aside)-> take what's left in the 5 cup and divide by 2.

    just takin a random stab at it. correctness? no guarantee?

  2. take the milk and pour it into the 3 cup measure then pour that into the 5 cup measure. take the milk and pour it into the 3 cup measure again and then pour that into the 5 cup measure until it reaches the top....
    I spent all of my language arts class thinking about this :)
