random drabbles from a blogger's soul: VII

my attempt at angst-y humor.  what an epic failure.

------------------------------

It’s only a matter of seconds before another coughing storm racks up your insides, clashing with your ribcage, desperate to let loose.  It’s been two weeks since the dreaded flu-round made it around to your household; and when it did, it was like a massacre had struck.  Every one of the five members of the family was a vegetable, just waiting for the disaster to pass on by.

But it’d been two weeks, and there was no such luck.

Day by day you’d wake up, peeking one eye open for any signs of a nausea and/or headaches.  And when the pain of it all blew up in your face, reminding you of your sickness, all your hope, all your energy, would empty to nothingness.

Ugh.  Being sick was terrible.

No going shopping, no hanging with friends, no school (although you didn’t mind that so much), no nothing.  You hadn’t felt this helpless in your whole 14-year life span, and you totally didn’t like it.

Your phone lets out a bleep! from the bedside table and you take all of your willpower to roll over and reach out for it blindly.

1 New Text Message, your phone displays.

Opening up the text, you come to find a message from your best friend.

hey girlie, how’s the bug getting along? i was just wondering if you felt any better to go to the mall? some last minute back-to-school shoppin? LOL, call me! <3
You send a quick reply, reluctantly stating that No, you’re not better yet (with a frowny face).

Oh, do you wish you could untangle yourself from the weeds, escaping the ill-borne sickness from its tight hold on you.   Oh, do you dream of the day when you can run freely atop a never-ending grassy green pasture.  Oh, do you long for the day when you’ll be able to be unlocked from the wrath of chains on your wrists.

With nothing do to and boredom slowly overcoming your body, you reach out for the remote, flicking through all the channels.

Replays of Disney Channel? No Thank you.

History Channel? Double Nada.

Sci-Fi? Bleh.

Okay, being sick officially SUCKED.

  1. great description...for a girl who haven't been sick like that in a long time...let's hope you won't be sick for a while. :)
