{lemon drops and stars}
a short drabble by elena anunciado.
Lemon drops sparkle in the deep magenta sky, its light captured and rolled on a tongue. Twisting, sucking, moving the smooth circle of colored sugar between teeth. Lolling down your throat, cheeks slightly rough from the residue of the candy, you perch your elbows on the articulate-cut grass, face lifted towards the heavens. The stars twinkle, showering you in all of its golden glory. It amazes you how two totally different things, two things of largely different proportion, are so similar. Lemon drops and stars. Stars and lemon drops. A beautiful reunion, like a pea and a pod, a ring a finger. They create beauty on drastically different levels, but both with joyous results. Together they are an unstoppable force, a power of aural intensity like no other. As you sit under the stars, unwrapping another lemon drop and popping it in your mouth, you let out a soft and content sigh. What a wonderful night.
